THE CEREMONY OF BIRTH: INDIGENOUS CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION
The Ceremony of Birth is a three month training on Indigenous Childbirth from the perspectives of Nahuatl, Totonaca & Zapoteco lineages. This unique offering is facilitated by Indigenous Birth Companions & Lactation Consultants, along with Traditional Midwives from México. It consists of eight modules, presented weekly, where students will learn about womb wellness, perinatal health, cultural practices and teachings throughout the childbearing year, postpartum care and well-being, ancestral lactation and bereavement support.
Rooted in tradition, thriving in community
With deep reverence for Mother Earth and the wisdom of our ancestors, we practice Indigenous agroecology, teach courses on herbal healing, equip new generations of mothers and birth workers, and mobilize BIPOC to work toward food, land and body sovereignty.
Rising Matriarchs Community
Rising Matriarchs is our virtual school, and it is abundant with workshops and skill shares on traditional ecological knowledge, traditional Mexican medicine, traditional midwifery, Indigenous foodways, reproductive wellness, body literacy and women’s hidden histories. It includes an archive with over 70 hours of recorded classes, herbal monographs, remedios, blog posts, how-to guides and a wide variety of books and resources for further study.
